HAWAII (KAUAI) DAY #11: Last Day

HAWAII (KAUAI) DAY #11: Last Day

Hearts were heavy this morning.
Driving to the beach it seemed like the mountains were crying with us via waterfalls (have to look close to see the fall in this picture)

All the waterfalls is one of the many things I loved about Kauai.  You would be driving down the road and spot all these monstrous waterfalls in the mountains.

Parting Rainbow
We tried to fit in a few more beaches before we left.

Hideaways
Probably our least favorite beach this entire trip.  It had too much of a resort feel and not the  secluded/country feel like we prefer.

I mean there was a guy raking the sand.

We followed up our least favorite beach with our favorite beach

Secret Beach
Good thing we found this beach on the last day otherwise we would have spent all our beach time here and not explored anything else.
This beach truly was a hidden gem.  We had it to ourselves for the first couple of hours. Great way to say goodbye to the Garden Isle.

Deli & Bread Connection
We stopped here on our way to the airport.  Don't remember what we had, only remember that we liked it.

PS there was a frozen yogurt place in this little shopping center that I really, Really wanted to go to, but with our horrible airport/plane/flight experiences getting to Hawaii there was no way that Clayton was going to let me get froyo if we didn't have enough time to make it to the airport at least 3 hours before our flight left (slight exaggeration, but he was pretty paranoid)
Sadly our flight from Kauai back to Oahu was the ONLY flight on this entire trip that didn't have problems.

Once we got to Oahu the entire airport shut down because of a ginormous thunder and lightening storm.  We saw this waterspout from the airport window

We were supposed to catch a flight from Oahu to Maui to LAX and then a separate Southwest flight to SLC.  Since our flight from Oahu to Maui was cancelled due to weather we missed our connecting flight from Maui to LAX...but our bag didn't.  3-4 hours later we caught a flight straight from Oahu to LAX.  This would normally be wonderful, but we only had an hour to find our bag from the previous cancelled flight and make it to our Southwest flight.  Lest you forget LAX is big and we had to run from terminal to terminal and barely made our flight.

WOW.  Just Wow.

Aloha & Mahalo Hawaii
Till next time
