ANDREW FAMILY PICTURES 2010

Phone conversation heard earlier today:
HEIDI (at work): Uhhh, I'm so bored. I just want to go home.
MOM (folding laundry at home): Why don't you do another blog post?
And so I did

And it came to pass that in the ninth day of the 10th month the Andrew Family sat down and had some very overdue family pictures taken. It had been over 10 years since the last pictorial evidence that yes we were a family was documented. I had short hair (ahhh...the duck butt), Rachel may or may not have had bangs, Kami copied my outfit that day, and my brothers still looked innocent. If you thought that we would take a picture without documenting our deep loyalty to all things "Y" you don't know our family very well. And "yes" even though the season is down the drain we are still fans. The barn Anyone know any good eye wrinkle cream? Doesn't Clayton look so comfortable!?! Kids + Spouses = Cort and Brand need to find wives

I hope they don't read that... Just the kiddos

"Hey Kami, Whose the Boss"
Ok so the reason I love this picture is because dad looks like he is the coach of a soccer team

Nate, Cort, Erik, Brandon, Clayton and Coach Pops

The girls (Kami, Rachel, Mom, me)

A special thanks to Kathrin Paul (Kami's sister in law) for putting up with our loud and obnoxious family and taking these great pictures.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN WALK 2010

PUMPKIN WALK 2010

For FHE Monday night we joined the one thousand SLR camera tooting Mormon Moms and their families at the North Logan Pumpkin Walk. It always surprises me how creative people are with pumpkins. The only thing I can do with them is cut two triangle eyes and a toothless grin. It's a classic pumpkin carving face. However, these people really get into it and each year I am amazed all over again.

Side note: So I asked this teenager girl to take this picture of us and by the look on her face you would have thought I asked to to drink her own urine.

I choose a cut out for Clayton and he chose one for me. I'm grateful that he choose Cinderella instead of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Maybe it was because I have trained his subconscious to actually believe that I am a princess.

I know one boy who is excited for November 19th (next Harry Potter release date...yeah I know most of you have it memorized with a how count down calender but I had to google it)
Clayton wanted a picture of the Sponge Bob display. He loves him some Sponge Bob. Nope I'm not kidding. So once upon a time my sisters, cousins and I liked to play The Little Mermaid. We even planned on doing a whole production of the movie for the Sunday night get together at Grandma and Grandpa's. I always wanted to be Ariel, but they always made me be Flounder. I took this picture of the Little Mermaid to remind them of how mean they were to me.
Until Next Year Pumpkin Walk...

BOOT SCOOTIN' BOOGIE

Finishing up our weekend down south...
Saturday = football

Prior to the BYU game we stopped by to see grams and gramps. My mom got some cowgirl boots for her birthday and I had to post this cute picture of her and my grams in their boots. Aren't they cute!!!

Even though we left Sandy 2 hours early thanks to traffic and weather we got to the game just in time. With a season gone awry, pouring rain, empty stomach, and tiredness on the brain I wasn't sure that I wanted to get out of the car (mostly because of the rain part). But the 6 of us (mom, pops, Rachel, Kami, Clayton and I) travailed and watched BYU play awesome for half of the 1st quarter and then lay down and play dead for the rest of the game. You would think that they had lost since they laid down and died but surprisingly they won. It was a miracle I tell you. a sure miracle. Oh well...at this point I will take a win.

ORANGE LEAF FROZEN YOGURT

After the game Clayton and I tried Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt in Bountiful. At first thought Clayton said that it was his all time favorite (mind you we try a LOT of froyo places), but once I mention the price ($0.38/oz) compared to Yogurtlands price ($0.30/oz), he decided that it was his 2nd favorite. Definitely in my top 3. The yogurt was creamy and not icy. They had 16 different flavors and you could actually taste what the flavor was supposed to be. oh yeah ... the sample cups were huge. I was full/sick before I filled my bowl. They also had toppings that I hadn't seen at other places before (now that I type that I can't remember what they were, but I know there were some because Clayton and I talked about it). After that we headed home and wrapped up our weekend in the big city and headed home. Between bouts of rain we saw 5 different rainbows. Wish I would have gotten a picture of the one in Brigham...full, bright rainbow. it was gorgeous. Great way to wrap up a weekend.

DATE NIGHT

Once upon a time we went on a date...

I LOVE sushi
I LOVE coupons
I LOVE coupons for sushi

It was really no surprise that when a daily deal (from one of the billion sites that email me daily with deals) for sushi popped up on my email I quickly purchased it. Both Clayton and I l.o.v.e. the stuff. If only it weren't so expensive.

The Place: PAGODA
There is a Pagoda in Hawaii that we went too a few years ago, but after spending some time on the www I found that it is not the same one...that it is not a chain. Apparently Pagoda is an popular name for a Japanese restaurant. Thanks to Google I now know that "Pagoda" means religious structure or Asian Temple. Google makes me so smart

I also found out that Pagoda has been in SLC for 65 years. It was first introduced to Salt Lake during World War II. During that time owning a Japanese business was pretty risky so it was officially presented as a Chinese restaurant and added many Asian dishes. Kinda interesting, but personally all I really care about is the sushi.

We tried the Phily roll, Vegas roll, Grand Staircase roll and two others that i can't remember the name off. They were all really good. However, Clayton and I decided that we can't be good critics of sushi because we just haven't had it enough.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE sushi???
ASYLUM 49
A few weeks ago we heard some dj's on the radio talk about a haunted hospital ("how many people have actually died in the haunted house you are going to"?). After dinner we up and decided to check it out. It had been YEARS since I have been to a haunted house.

Hmmm...That is supposed to be my "I'm scared" face. Didn't quite turn out that way. I think the scariest part of the haunted house was the teenagers hanging out front. strange. OK let's be honest, I screamed...a lot. I didn't think that the crazy people in the house could touch you, but they did. Probably weren't supposed to but THEY DID and I didn't like it. They also had this tunnel thingy that made me feel very claustrophobic. I seriously about had a panic attack. Throughout the house Clayton did a great job at "protecting" me...if you call laughing at me "protecting". Like I said it has been years since I have been to a haunted house so I'm not sure if it was "the best" or not. It made me scared and that is enough for me.

WELLSVILLE HIKE - TAKE 2

WELLSVILLE MOUNTAINS

After hiking these bad boys last year (click here for the oh so exciting recap) I really didn't think that we would do it again for at least a 5 or so years. So when Clayton mentioned hiking it on Saturday...I was a little surprised. Instead of starting at the Rattlesnake (yeah I don't like the name either) trailhead in Sardine Canyon and hike to the top and then go back down Rattlesnake like we did last year we tried a different approach. We started at the Deep Canyon Trailhead in Mendon and hiked the whole range going down Rattlesnake ending up in Sardine Canyon. The whole hike from one end to the other is 11-12 miles (depending on what site you look at...I'm going with 12 miles)

One of the reasons we decided to do it again was to see the leaves in all their fall glory. Granted we were a few weeks late for the real show, but it was still very pretty.
Overlooking the Box Elder side

see that white crap? That is snow. I. hate. snow!

The next two pictures are at the top overlooking Logan/Cache County

At the top over looking Box Elder County
I was surprised how crowded the hike was. However, most people went up Deep Canyon and down Coldwater...a shorter route.
The majority of the people we passed asked which way we were going down. Since the plan was Rattlesnake that is what we told them. Here are there responses we got:
"Glad it is you and not me"
" Oh that is FAR"

"That is a long way"
"Too long for me"
"Good Luck"
"That is going to take awhile"
I'm not going to lie...their responses evoked two different feelings in me
FEELING #1: hmmm...do I really want to do this if it is going to take all of my precious Saturday?
FEELING #2: Oh yea I am totaling doing this.
ABOVE: I don't think that I have ever been happier to see Sardine Canyon than I was that day.
BELOW: These berries were all over the place. Anyone know what they are and if they are edible? Clayton wouldn't let me find out.
There was surprisingly still a lot of green on the hike towards the bottom.
Finishing up on Rattlesnake.
FYI snake sighting on this hike was = ZERO
Total hike time = 5 hours exactly
For all of you hikers out there I totally recommend this hike. The views were amazing and even though it is long it is totally worth it.
