HAPPY EASTER

Happy Easter
Does it sound weird to anyone else to say "Happy Easter"? I mean the reason for Easter is definitely happy, but it sounds kinda weird...just a thought.

Yea we're kinda weird! We spent Easter Sunday at the Andrew 'rents. We celebrated Easter and Dad's birthday (pics to be posted on his actual birthday - Thursday). After dinner (and about 147 lbs of Cadbury mini eggs) we played with the toys the Easter Bunny brought Kace, Clayton and I. Kace got this bubble thingy...

Even Tydon gave it a try.
Growing up in the Andrew House the Easter Bunny always hid EVERYTHING, eggs, baskets, etc. Since we've been married Clayton and I really haven't made baskets for each other (I just make him go buy me an Easter outfit and call it good:). This year I decided to make us a cheap, little basket. Every Sunday Clayton throws his church shirt into the dryer, so I thought that would be an excellent place to hide the basket. How was I supposed to know that he would ruin my fun and decide that this would be the ONE Sunday when he wouldn't throw his shirt in the dryer. I had to beg him to go check. You are no fun Clayton...NO FUN!!! Anyway the Easter bunny brought us some kites. Woohoo! $2.88 Walmart kites, baby!!! There really wasn't much wind, ok there was NO wind on Sunday, so we had to improvise.

We pulled out the 4-wheelers and drove out to the field. See my cheesy sister Kami on the Left? Someone needs to give her a lesson on kite flying. She was the one who drove Clayton around why he was flying his kite on the back of the 4-wheeler. Apparently, she hasn't heard that you aren't supposed to fly kites next to power lines (just kidding...geez Kami don't get mad:)! She drove right by one and his kite got stuck. Luckily nothing happened to any of them, but the electricity from the power line did break the kite string. Thankfully, Clayton is an Eagle Scout and has his knot tying merritt badge. After a good square knot the kite was good to go.

Ready, Set, GO...

One Spiderman Kite + one My Little Pony kite = one killer Easter Sunday.

REDNECK SITING

I forgot to show these pictures in the last post (not that it wasn't long enough anyway). We saw this Jeep as we were driving down the freeway to pick up my sister Kami to go skiing. Clayton and I thought that these were classic redneck pictures. Of course it would look a lot more redneck if you replace the Jeep with a 1987 minivan or something.

GOOD FRIDAY

Clayton had the 21st off of work for Good Friday (seriously who gets that holiday off!) so we decided to make the best of it and head to Salt Lake on Thursday. Taking time off of work for me was very painful because I just enjoy working sooooo much...yea right!?! We booked ourselves a room at the Hilton (thank you priceline.com) and relaxed for the next 3 days. Warning: This will be a long post, so if you don't want the day-by-day events then skip this post. However, for all of you who don't like to read (Kami) or don't know how to read (Kami again), I will try to make it entertaining with pictures.

JAZZ GAME
Clayton had a conference on Thursday in SLC so he took the company mini van (yep a MINI VAN...he rocked out in that beast) down to SLC and then turned around to come home to switch cars and pick me up. What was I thinking??? I should have took Thursday off of work too so he wouldn't have to drive to SLC twice...But then I would have robbed Clayton of the opportunity to drive the MINI VAN and I just couldn't do that. Anyways...we got tickets to the Jazz/Laker game for that night. Neither of us are fans of the LA Lakers. In fact I think Kobe Bryant is a @#*& (that means JERK mom). Unfortunately, the game really wasn't good...at all. See...
That's right! I FEEL ASLEEP! How pathetic am I!?! But, in my defense the game did start at 830 pm (my bedtime is 9pm) and it was an extremely booooooooring game. The Lakers started off scoring first and within the first 5 minutes they were up by 15 points. They were up by 15-20 points almost the entire game. I think the closest the Jazz came to cutting the lead was 11 points. It was quite sad.

Clayton wanted me to take a picture to show everyone that we were closer to the roof than the floor. He also made us stop at the grocery store before the game to see if they had any Tang that we could drink. Ya know...Tang...it's what the astronauts drink...we had seats that were so far up that we were like astronauts...anyway... So that was pretty much the game. Jazz got their butts kicked, I feel asleep, and the Jazz dancers changed outfits 7 times (I know, I counted).

FRIDAY ADVENTURES

Bless the beds at the Hilton. We usually don't sleep well in beds other than our own, especially hotel beds. However, the Hilton's make some kick butt beds. We felt so good that we worked out at the hotel gym the next morning (yes we are obsessed). One question about hotel gyms...why can't they get a good air conditioning system going on in their gyms??? Seriously buy some fans or something. It was like working out in a sauna in the Sahara desert. This next part is CLASSIC HEIDI. So there I was all sweaty and stuff so I decided to take a shower before we went to the Temple. Got all ready and realized that I FORGOT MY RECOMMEND!!! Swell...first the Jazz get spanked and then I forget my recommend. Oh well, if we can't go to the Temple then we will just go shopping and swimming before our long awaited dinner at Cafe Pierpont. I love Cafe Pierpont. They have awesome Mexican food with a salsa bar AND it was right across the street from our hotel. Well...Clayton called to see how long the wait was and we find out that they are closed! Geez... The guy at the front desk tells us to try the Blue Iguana if we like Mexican food. We did and it wasn't too bad. We had tickets to Odyssey Dance production of Moulin Rouge (we are soooo cultured). That again started at 830pm (why can't people start things earlier for the lovers of sleep like myself?). We had some time to kill so we went back to the hotel to watch some TV. At 8pm Clayton looks for our tickets and finds out that the dance starts at 8pm. Hey yells, "Oh @#*&" (that means CRAP mom:) and we run out the door. Lucky for us dancers run late too so we still made it on time.

They did some other skits/dances before they got to Moulin Rouge and honestly it was awesome...the whole thing.

SKIING WITH THE POSH PEOPLE

My sister Kami got us an awesome deal to ski at Deer Valley in Park City on Saturday. $10 tickets (they are usually $72) - saweeeet! The only problem is that Clayton doesn't ski and Deer Valley is a ski only resort - NO BOARDERS ALLOWED. He had skied once before when he was 14 yrs old and on the first run down the hill he crashed so bad that his binding tour off of his ski! Ouch! Thankfully, 13 years later he was ready to give it another shot.

Clayton did AWESOME. We took about 3 runs on the bunny hill and we was ready for the big kid hill. I thought that he would spend the majority of the day on the ground, but he didn't. He hardly fell at all. Needless to say I was totally impressed. I think he felt bad for slowing Kami and I down so he made us take some runs on our own. When we were done the picture above is how we found him. HaHaHa so cute! Side note: On the bottom right picture I look like I am married to my sister, Kami. Weird! Clayton did most of the packing for this trip (bless his heart) and he forgot to pack my running pants (I wear them under my ski pants). Thankfully, Kami was coming with us and this is what she came up with for me to wear.
Yep they are HOT PINK! Can't beat that.

Hey Clayton...Remember that time we went to SLC and the Jazz got their butts kicked, I forgot my Temple recommend, Cafe Pierpont closed and we almost missed the the dance production of Moulin Rouge? Seriously even though all these things happened Clayton summed it up best by saying "And we still had good attitudes the entire time". Gotta love Good Friday!

MARCH MADNESS

Welcome to MaRcH mAdNeSs
OK...so I created a group on ESPN'S Tournament Challenge and am inviting all of you who read our blog to join this group. All you do is fill out a NCAA men's tournament bracket. This isn't a professional group or anything. It is pretty much a guessing game. I don't follow college basketball (except for BYU and a few teams from the Mountain West Conference and only 3 of them are even playing) and know nothing about any of the teams playing. So...don't be embarrassed because if you don't know anything about these basketball teams because either does anyone else who submits their picks to our group. ESPN has made it easy. They have by each team they have listed their seed/ranking and their overall season record, so you can't screw up too bad. The group is marked as private so only the people who read this blog to get the username and password can enter. Here is how to play.
1. click on this link ESPN or go to http://games.espn.go.com/tcmen/frontpage.
2. create an ESPN account (it's free) and if they ask for a mobile phone number or address just make one up...that's what I did. You will need to create a username and password. You will enter the groups username and password later.
3. Click on "create entry"
4. You can now do one of two things. You can start your picks by clicking on the team you think will win and then click on "join group" OR you can click on the link "create or join group" (see step #4) and then start your picks.
4. In the search box, search for the group name "mcmurman"
5. In order to join the group you must have the username and password.
USERNAME: mcmurman
PASSWORD: gocougars
6. Now you can create your entry by clicking on your name and clicking on the teams you think will win.
7. Picks MUST be in by, Thursday, March 20th.
ESPN will keep track of our points and rankings. If I can think of a good prize for the winner (like the privilege of hanging out with Clayton and Heidi for a night) I will let you know later...
GOOD LUCK

SKIIN' THE BEAV

Skiers and snowboarders CAN live in HARMONY
After the race on Saturday, we headed up to Beaver to get some spring skiing in. Love skiing in the spring...so warm... Usually this time of year at the Beav you would be skiing on patches of dirt and ice, but not Saturday. With all the snow we have gotten this year and with the storm the night before we went, we had awesome skiing.
View of Logan Canyon from the top of Marge's Triple.

Stay tuned (and say your prayers)... Next weekend Clayton attempts SKIING when we go to Deer Valley!

TAXES

Our TaXeS are DoNe...

Dear Uncle Sam,

I just wanted to send a letter to let you know how much we appreciate you. Yesterday, when we did our taxes we found out that we would AGAIN be owing you money. We feel extremely blessed that you have chosen US to pay YOU each year at tax time. Not only that, but we feel honored that you take some of our hard working money out of each of our monthly paychecks. You have done so much for us, so this is just a little way we can show you our gratitude. Let me remind you what you have done for us. You have given jobs to workers in foreign countries leaving many family, friends, former coworkers, etc. of our own nation struggling to find jobs of their own and struggling to survive (thank you for thinking of other countries before your own). You have risen prices of gas, food and other products which we frequently use. You have made health care extremely expensive. You have allowed illegal aliens who are in the USA to use your/our legal system to SUE members of your/our own country, and they have gotten away with it. You have caused our economy to start falling into a recession. Because of this fall in the economy the the money we have put into stocks and into our retirement accounts have suffered. But, hey I'm sure we will still feel like working when we are 97 years old. These are just a FEW of the things you have done for us. Please use our money wisely. Please use it to buy gold plated toilet seats for the leaders of our great nation. Or just give them the money so that they can afford to put gas into their BMW's and Audi's. Once again we give you our DEEPEST THANKS and we are looking forward to paying you next year (and out of our monthly checks)!

Love,

Clayton and Heidi

p.s. While you are using our money to fill the gas tanks for those running for President of our country, could you please ask them to get along? It is quite entertaining, but also terribly annoying. Especially when they talk smack about their opponent and then say that their opponent would make a excellent Vice President for them. Interesting...

DRAPER LDS TEMPLE

We needed some spiritual enlightenment before the concert on Saturday so...

We stopped by to see the Draper LDS Temp which is under construction. We were actually at Ikea (YES AGAIN!) and had some time to kill before we met my sister, Kami and her boyfriend, Erik for dinner so we thought why not.

The sad thing is that most of the houses in that area are bigger then the Temple (sad that the houses are so big not that the Temple is small...which it really isn't all that small). However, even thought the Temple is not yet completed and is placed amongst the pride of the world (if you live in that area I am just kidding), I can tell that it will be absolutely beautiful and I can not wait until the open house.

Clayton did not want his picture taken (surprise, surprise) so I had to take this one by myself of myself.

COHEED & CAMBRIA

My new hair inspiration...

For Valentines Day I got Clayton tickets to go see one of his favorite bands, Coheed and Cambria. The concert was Saturday and it was amazing.

Obviously, if you look at the pictures you can tell that our seats were REAL great (please look for the sarcasm in that sentence). But we were there for the music not the pretty faces. Speaking of pretty faces the one above is of Claudio Sanchez who is their lead singer. Doesn't he have rad hair?!! I seriously love it and want to grow mine out like it. All that volume...

Here are a few concert highlights...
1. I was molested/frisked by a woman who thought that I was hiding drugs or knives in my beanie.
2. Clayton brought highlight #2 to my attention (I'm not real familiar with C&C). Apparently, some of their songs have expletives (thank you Clayton for downloading the clean versions). Saturday night they did not sing one explicative! I was impressed that they would do that at a live concert.
3. Have I mentioned the hair? I wonder what kinda product he uses...?
4. Segregation still exists...between men and women that is. Upon entering the E Center Clayton and I had to split up. This has happened to me once before, at a 311 concert we attended awhile back. I'm pretty sure it is because of the nature of the concerts and the concert goers. Not your typical Elton John crowd!
5. The music! The music was awesome (sorry Clayton I know that this should be number one, but I'm too lazy to cut and paste). I went into the concert thinking "this will be ok" and "I love my husband so I can tolerate this for an hour or so." I left the concert thinking "WOW, where did the time go?" and "I need to have Clayton put some of these songs onto my iPod" and "if they come to town again we are DEFINITELY going (Clayton will be happy to read that)."
You can tell that we had a good time because Clayton actually let me take his picture in front of the E Center. That never happens!
