MEMORIAL WEEKEND...Monday

Where was I...oh yeah Sunday night and lots of cookies.

Both Clayton and I woke up on Monday sick (mentally and physically) from the amount of cookies we ate on Sunday. To remedy that we started our holiday off with a run. Clayton is such a good sport for my fake photo shoots! We really did run though, that part wasn't fake. Logan is so beautiful and green right now. We decided to take advantage of it by hiking the Crimson Trail up Logan Canyon. Cheesy fact: we did this same hike 4 years ago on our first Memorial Day together.

The spring runoff was impressive. The wild flowers were beautiful. The fact that Logan Canyon is actually green part of the year was amazing.

And of course pics...

Conversation #1:

CLAYTON: I never have a bad day with you Heidi. Those days that "normal" people would consider bad I consider learning days. This wasn't meant to be cheesy. I thought it was hilarious.

Conversation #2 (upon seeing deer poop):

CLAYTON: I wish my poop was like a deer's and all pebble like. Then when I am on the toilet it would sound like a drumroll.

HEIDI: awesome.

After the hike we headed back out to the 'rents for some chicken at gmas with our extended Andrew clan. good food. Afterwards Clayton, Cort, Brandon and myself played some volleyball until once again the rains came. blasted weather!

Later we headed to Tremonton. Rumor had it that raspberries were on sale at the local grocery store for $12.99/case. After scoring our raspberries we headed to the Tremonton Cemetery to visit Clayton's brother's grave and the graves of other family members. After a few games for bocce (Clayton redeemed himself) and catch we had a bbq with his family. Good times.

I am so thankful for this day we have to remember those who have fought for our freedom and those whose lives we have lost. I am also grateful that we can live together forever with those we have lost.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND...Sunday

Sunday was a less eventful day (in terms of physical activity not spiritual activity). Gotta keep the Sabbath.

All events happen in real pm time

130 - 430: Church (don't even get me started on afternoon Church!!!)
500: drive and eat at the 'rents while they are out doing chores
530: make cookies
600 - 700: eat cookies
700: cram 4 grown adults in to the backseat of parents Camry and drive to the Trenton cemetery to visit graves of family members
715: pay respects
730: watch boys swing from flag pole. No reverence here.
745: laugh at pops when he realizes that he has a huge hole in the crotch area of his pants and then cram back into the Camry for the drive home.
800: eat more cookies.
805 - to the end of basketball game: eat cookies while watching the Orlando-Cleveland basketball game.
930: eat more cookies and wonder why Brandon won't bring his lady friend down to meet the family.
935: wander up stairs (while eating a cookie) to meet Brandon's lady friend. After introduction, Brandon and lady friend escape downstairs to avoid family. strange.
940: drown sorrows of Brandon's rejection to family by eating more cookies.
945-1030: talk to 'rents and Cort while eating cookies. Realize that it is in the 10's and I'm still awake...and eating cookies.
1030-1050: drive home sick and depressed because of the amount of cookie consumption.

Pics from the day...

Oh ladies...they are single...except for the one in the back. He's taken.
This a picture of my brother and his "attractive" boots he must have stole from a 12 foot tall woman. Oh yes he is one of the single guys I referred to above. Side Story: Last week Cort was working in the field and suddenly realized that he had to go to the bathroom. Being the boy scout that he is he dropped his drawers and attended to his business (aka went the bathroom). While his drawers we around his ankles a bee decided to test out the surface area of Cort's butt. That's right a bee stung him on his bear butt. Hilarious. Classic. Awesome.
Crammed in the Camry on the way to the cemetery. Why is Brandon pretending to lick my face? Strange.
That is some sexy (flag) pole dancing attire.
You don't want to know.
He's mine!
Next up Monday's activities...stay tuned I'm on a roll

MEMORIAL WEEKEND...Saturday

I know many sleepless nights were had since my last post about waking up bright and early Saturday morning to wash the car. To you who expressed concern - THANK YOU. To those of you who questioned my look of irritation in the photo as being fake (that's you Rachel) I reassure you it was a GENUINE look of irritation. I am an early riser, but washing a car with the cold, cold water from your garden hose at 7am on a May morning in Utah is not what I consider pleasant. Now if I would have had a hot tub to soak in while I aimed the hose at the car in one hand and a milksake in the other that would have been ideal. Anyway the car got washed and subie looked good...until the rain came 3 hours later.

Moving on...

Knowing that the weather was supposed to be crappy we girded up our loins anyway ("girded up our loins" who says that anyway!?! ...besides the wise people who wrote the Bible?) and headed to Bear Lake. As luck, fate and the great Zeus would have it we picked a spot where 2 hours later the only dark rain bearing cloud would find it's way right on top of our blanket and beat its fierce winds and rain upon us. Lucky for us we were able to get a few games in of volleyball and bocce in before we were sent packing.

The dark evil rain filled cloud. The lake looks pretty though.
This is what a volleyball looks like. Not quite sure why I took that picture. As I type this I'm realizing that I'm not sure why I am posting it either. oh well. It stays.
This is bocce. I was blue and Clayton was red. I took this picture because Clayton usually kicks my butt at bocce. However on this glorious day I won close to 18 out of 20 games. I know, right!?! I'm awesome.
Clayton throwing (and losing ah ha ha ha)

What form! What skill! That's me dominating. When the rain came down (and the floods came up...) we ran all of our stuff to the car. Well except our slippers. Clayton made me go back and get them. He thought he was so funny for making me do that that he took this picture from the cozy comfort of inside the car. Stay tuned for Sunday's festivities...

AN EARLY START TO THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Memorial weekend started with...
a Saturday morning 7 AM carwash
I know, right!?!

Three guesses whose idea this was and the first two guesses don't count.

please, please, please let the weekend get better than this!

MOTHER'S DAY 2009

Ya, I know I'm like 2 weeks late on this post. Nonetheless Mother's should be paid tribute to everyday not just one day in May. Saying that I don't feel to bad about posting it now.

Clayton and I have been blessed with two awesome Mother's. By awesome I mean freaking rad. And by rad I mean radical as in the days of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nana (aka Shira) Kayleen (aka Heidi's mom)So to the two of you Clayton and I say THANK YOU! The two of us couldn't have asked for better mom's. Thanks for filling our homes with love, support and patience (along with cookies, brownies and ice cream). One day we hope that you will raise our kids as well as you have raised us. What? You won't raise them? How about babysitting? If I am as half a good of a mom as you two have been to us I will consider it a success. I have pretty big shoes to fill and I do have big...er...large feet. Love you both! Happy belated Mother's Day!

On that note here are some pics from Mother's Day 2009 (we celebrated it at the Andrew house this year).

The girls after Church. You don't wear jeans to Church Kami! What were you thinking!?!

We were about to sit down to a lovely meal of pretzel jell-o salad made by Brandon when...

...the stupid cows got out.

Tydon looking all so cute giving Daisy a big hug.

Isn't she hot!?!
Tydon really, really, really liked the frosting on the cake. That's the look I have when I am eating ice cream.
Pretty sure it's a slobbery kiss.
And how can we forget Grandma Andrew. She is a pretty awesome mom herself. She did put up with my dad growing up. Talk about W-O-R-K! Kidding dad.

CALIFORNIA CONVERSATIONS AND STUFF

One of the things I love most about spending time with Clayton is the conversations we have. Usually they are quite random. On our first date I asked him if he could take 3 and only 3 cereals to Heaven what would he take. I can't remember what he said back then and I know that both of our choices have changed because of a little cereal that so gloriously entered our lives about 9 months ago...Banana Nut Cheerios. God bless General Mills! From that first date until now many "if you could take 3 _______ to Heaven what would they be" conversations have been had. More happened in CA and because I like you ... and you I will share them (the inappropriate ones asked by Clayton I will not be sharing ... for PG related purposes:).

"If you could take 3 JELL-O puddings to Heaven what would they be?"
CLAYTON: chocolate, pistachio, vanilla
HEIDRON: butterscotch, coconut, cheesecake

"If you could take 3 bands to Heaven who would you take?" can't see any of these bands singing with the great chorus of angels up above, but let's humor ourselves, ok!?!
CLAYTON: Coheed and Cambria, Metallica, Senses Fail
HEIDRON: Keith Urban, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers

"If you could take 3 fruit-like salads to Heaven what would you take?" obviously we were on a food/JELL-O kick.
CLAYTON: pretzel JELL-O salad, His mom's orange-cottage-cheese magigar (exact words), pistachio
HEIDRON: Berry salad, pretzel JELL-O salad, Cookie salad

"If you could take 3 airlines to Heaven who would you take?"
CLAYTON: Hawaiin, Southwest, Delta (since they fly everywhere)
HEIDRON: Hawaiian, Fijian airlines, Tahitian airlines (not sure the last two are legit)

That's just a few. Another conversation that always enters our chats is the "Hey _______ (Clayton or Heidi)! Remember that one time when____________" These can be events that happened minutes, days, weeks, years ago. For example a few years ago this happened "Hey Clayton! Remember that one time we drove all the way to the Grand Canyon and it was closed!?!" Here are some "Remember that one time _______?" conversations that happened in CA (they get the "Hey Clayton" instead of "Hey Heidi" because obviously I'm the one writing the post).

Hey Clayton! ...
1. Remember that one time we payed the car rental guy $20 EXTRA bucks to NOT give us a PT Cruiser? best $20 bucks I ever spent!!!
2. Remember that one time we drove all the way to Newport Beach and forgot our beach towels ? (ok so NB was only 30 minutes or so from San Clemente, but it was still funny/annoying).
3. Remember that one time at Huntington Beach that you forgot your underwear that you wear under your boardshorts and you had lost so much weight in the past year that it wasn't possible for you to go w/out underwear so we had to stop in at Huntington Surf and Sport and get you some new boardshorts that fit? I'm sure that he is going to be thrilled that I posted this one. Don't be surprised if it is gone tomorrow.
4. Remember that one time that we saw two birds making sweet, sweet love on the pier. Lucky you I have a picture for this one!
5. Remember that one time we say a lady walking on the coastal trail in her sequined shorts?
6. Remember that one time that we went to Yogurtland before the beach and Yogurtland after the beach?
7. Remember that one time we ate a whole bag (it was a B-I-G) bag of carrots (probably the only healthy thing we ate on the trip) on the way to the Temple?
8. Remember that one time I paid $10 bucks for a small bag of trailmix and a water at the airport because I was starving? (Rip-freaking-off)
9. Remember that one time our shuttle bus drive drove mach 7 and I about threw up my southwest peanuts, million dollar bag of trailmix and water?
10. Remember that one time we went to California and all we ate was cupcakes and ice cream. I won't add in "remember that one time we went to California and I gained 6 lbs!!!"
11. Remember that one time we were at Huntington Beach and I didn't put on sunscreen because it was a tad cold and windy and I burned my armpits!?
12. Remember that one time we went to the San Clemente Wal*Mart and all the checkout lines were empty. Guess Wal*Mart isn't as "popular" in CA as it is in UT. Go figure.

Here are the remaining CA pics ...

Clayton liked the second pic one the best and I liked the first one the best. Because we compromise they both get posted.

Huntington Beach: The windy, armpit burning beach.
San Clemente Beach and Pier. Birds making smaller birds (keepin' it G rated)
San Clemente. Thankfully the cloudy day was our last day.

Not quite sure how to explain this one...

Clayton wanted me to get this photo so it looked like the pelican was perched on his shoulder. I'm not an expert photag and after 786 attempts this is the best I got. That's all for now. I have a billion photos of things from before CA that I will be posting later in the week. I hope your excitement doesn't keep you up at night. Later!

HAPPY COWS COME FROM CALIFORNIA

Pretty much everyone with a tv has seen the "Happy cows come from California" commercials. Personally I think the only reason California cows are "happy" is because they are all jacked up on Botox and teat implants (the protuberance on the utter...pull your minds back in).

The C-man and I took a spur of the moment trip to San Clemente last Tuesday (and that Tracie is why you haven't heard from me). I will sum up our trip in three words: run, food, beach. Simply put we are not amusement park people when we go to California. I know that this will change once we have kids (yes mom I said "once"). For now I prefer to keep the puking to a minimum. I also would like to save money by not buying cases and cases of hand sanitizer to rid myself of the diseases I pick up on the germ infested rides. But that's just me.

Once again we stayed with Clayton's cousin Cory (thanks Cory!!!). You might remember this post from last year that talked about the haunting in the room next to us. Well we stayed in the "haunted" room this year and glad to say all was well. In fact I wasn't even scared, except when Clayton told me not to be surprised when I looked in the mirror if I saw a ghost staring back at me. I'm usually scared enough when I look in the mirror and see my own reflection, I don't need a ghost in the mirror to do the job for me.

Here are some of my/our favorites. . .

MORNING RUNS
Each morning we ran along the beach. San Clemente has this awesome coastal trail that is usually jam-packed with runners and walkers. Wednesday through Saturday we got up and ran. We are not much for sleeping in. Favorite running memories...

1. Our first morning run I listened to Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" the entire time. I think I replayed the song close to 48 times.

2. OK this is not a fond memory and I must preface it by saying that I have nothing against handicap people. Every morning there would be this lady walking her dogs while rolling around on her jazzy. She would take up the WHOLE path causing people to run through bushes and boulders to get around her. Once she stopped to let her dogs pee (on the path) causing me to do some acrobatic moves to not get tripped up by the lease and not get peed on. Thankfully all ended well except for a few choice words that came to my mind.

3. This one is awesome. One lady had short black running shorts with sequins down the side. It look like she had gotten a hold of her six year-old's bedazzler . nice.

THE FOOD
By food I mean sugar. I think we went out to eat for normal food twice. Once with Cory on the pier and once to Subway (which I don't consider eating out). However, we stopped for cupcakes, gelato, frozen yogurt, ice cream and it's-it's ice cream sandwiches about 8 times. This is why we ran each morning (we probably should have ran each night too). If only Utah would get with the times and get a Sprinkles, Yogurtland and It's It's then we wouldn't have gorged ourselves. That's my justification.

1. Sprinkles cupcakes---Clayton is addicted. We went everyday (except Wednesday) and got a box of 4 each time.

Clayton deciding which flavors to get (they change daily). This is a long process.
Pumpkin, Red Velvet, Chocolate Peanut butter, Strawberry, Coconut, Black 'n White, Banana, Chi Latte, Carrot, Cinnamon Sugar, and Vanilla were all the different flavors we tried. Pigs we are!

2. Gelato---Life is good!

3. Yogurtland--- If this picture looks like there are beams of light coming down from heaven it's because there are. Pretty sure I heard the Heavenly Chorus of angels sing when we pulled into view. Jodie introduced us to Yogurt Land (aka Land of the Y) in Hawaii. Something I will be forever in her debt for (both financially and emotionally).
Friday on our way to Huntington Beach we stopped by for a "small" cup. Here is our "small" cups

Ok you can't tell in the picture, but they weren't that small, they were HUGE.

On our way back from Huntington Beach we stopped by again for another"small" cup.

4. It's-It---Only sold west of the Rocky Mountains. freaking delicious!

THE BEACH
1. The very tan old guy who would run along the San Clemente beach at 1 o'clock sharp each day. 2. Conversations with Clayton (to be posted later)
3. playing volleyball and paddleball
4. Proving that I can get fully submersed in the water faster than Clayton. boo-yah.
5. remembering that the sun is warm (sadly not the case in Utah).
6. hearing the ocean.
7. listening to iPod
8. reading a books.
9. getting excited because I thought I saw Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgen's. Sadly it wasn't them. I know you are all disappointed too.

REDLANDS TEMPLE
We did shake up our 3 activity-a-day schedule by attending a session at the Redlands LDS Temple. In California we have done Temple sessions at the San Diego, Newport, and Oakland Temples. This trip we wanted to expand our list of "California Temples we have done sessions in" and attend a session at the Los Angeles Temple. Sadly it was closed for maintenance for a few weeks. So we decided to head out to the Redlands Temple. I'm glad we did. The Temple is beautiful and session was awesome.

Good times. More to come.
