ANSWERS

1) A. Spandex is gross.  We hate cats.  And we only jump on beds at hotels.

We had the Hylton's, Huff's and Jackson's over for food you poke with a stick night (aka steak and chicken kabobs and potatoes).  I fully planned on whipping out the camera, but didn't... next time.  As always thanks guys for the great time.

2) FALSE.  Saturday morning brought about something I like to refer to as a place where weeping, wailing and gnashing of the teeth occur.  We woke up to 12 inches of new snow and really cold temps.  After hearing Jessie say on Friday that they built a snowman after the last storm I figured that we could give it a try and maybe it would help knock me out of my winter blues.  I am sad to report that it didn't work.

FYI rock eyes, celery nose, banana mouth, hot dog roasting stick arms.  gotta be resourceful

3) F.  he ate our food, did his laundry, lost (again) to me in Egyptian Rat Screw and cheered on BYU.  He probably won't come over again until his cupboards are bare or he needs to borrow something.  kidding cort!

4) TRUE. Go Cougars!  As of today they are ranked #3 in the nation in both the AP and ESPN polls.

5) A and C.  Clayton has been trying to watch Prince of Persia for 2 weeks now.  He turns it on after I go to bed in attempt to finish it, but ends up falling asleep himself.  As of Saturday night around 1130pm he finally finished it.  I didn't even try.

UP was cute.  Although it was different from what I expected.  Great message about what really important in life.  Oh and I only slept through about 10-15 minutes of it.

I would never ever sleep through Saturday's Warrior.  That movie is sacred.  Also, call me crazy but I really want to see Vampires Suck.  I think its spoof on Twilight looks hilarious!

6) A, B & C .  Yes ice cream all three days.  It was glorious.  Friday chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.  Saturday Twizzle Berry.  Sunday Oatmeal Raisin Cookie ice cream.  It may sound weird but trust me it is amazing.  Found at Gossner's.  Maybe it is so amazing because the milk that it is made of is Andrew Dairy milk.  Try it.  It will not disappoint.

7) Tydon...however I will also accept Spiderman since he and Tydon are virtually the same person.  Don't believe me?  Scroll a couple of posts down and see what he is wearing underneath his t-shirt.  Look closely.  See it?  Yes that is his Spiderman costume!

He came into the house holding this behemoth of an icicle screaming because his hands were so cold.  When he let go of the icicle his glove was stuck to it.  Poor kid probably thought his hands were going to fall off they were so cold.  After about 10 minutes and some big thick socks on his hands the crying subsided.  This picture makes him look like he has got to pee.  sure do love this kid.

8) Monopoly Deal.  I know most of you were hoping that I would say "Strip Poker".  sorry.  Mall Madness was a favorite as a kid.  Love that game.  However, the game of the day(s) is Monopoly Deal.  Clayton is not big on playing games so whenever I get an inkling that he kinda likes a game I have to take advantage and buy it.  When we were in Bear Lake a few weeks ago he couldn't get enough of this game.

* picture from Google images
9) E. all of the above.  some answers were inside jokes and some were not www/blog appropriate and will therefor remain absent.  Love this game.  FYI it was Nate who who said that his most feminine quality was his "chest" and Brandon said it was his "ability to cry".  Kace the 8 year-old is the one who will be developing the perfume "Rat Pee for Free".

That's all.

Did you pass?

Now I leave you with a picture of Cort, Brandon and Kace (and his hovering hand) as they finished up our Sunday night by playing Egyptian Rat Screw.

ON MY MIND

I have got the winter blues.
bad.
real bad.

Here is what is on my mind of late

1. I. Need. A. Vacation. I'm not talking "all my bags are packed I'm ready to go" vacation...although that would be nice...ok so maybe that is what I am talking about. Laying on the beach. Feeling the sun. Reading a book. Relaxing. Being memorized by the sound of the waves. Hiking. Exploring. Trying different foods. Farmers markets. Swimming. Wearing flipflops, shorts and skirts. Spontaneity. No responsibility. However, I will settle for a nice "stay-cation" where I take a couple of days off of work and do whatever the crap I want too. Oh and by a couple of days I don't mean Saturday and Sunday. I need longer. The weekend will not suffice.

2. I'm burned out (see # 1) of everything. Work. My workouts. My "same old, same old" food choices, etc.

3. I finished the Hunger Games trilogy. I don't know what to think. I really liked them, but they were so depressing at the same time. Last night Clayton asked me what the moral of the story was. I couldn't answer. I didn't know. Maybe that power and greed can destroy your life? Maybe that revenge and hate can destroy nations? I really don't know...

4. The Jazz officially suck. Not that they didn't before. Now that Sloan and Deron Williams are gone I think they need to clean house and get rid off all the pansies. Seems like every time a player gets a PAPER CUT they are put on the injured list and sit out 5 games.

5. I miss YogurtLand. It has been too long. I crave it daily.

6. I really like this swim suit. Anyone want to buy me an early St. Patricks Day present???

7. Jimmer Fredette is amazing. that's all.

8. My Father-in-Law got put in as Stake President a few weeks ago. I was going to dedicate a whole blog post to him, but that would only embarrass him. Anyway i think he one truly amazing man who will do a fantastic job. Clayton has told me many times that his dad is one of his hero's and I can see why. I don't know a more generous, kind, service oriented man than Harry McMurdie. I thank the Lord everyday for the family I married into. ps. I have now shook the hand of TWO apostles (1-Elder Holland, 2-Elder Perry).

9. Justin Bieber is gross. cocky. not cute. and he looks like a girl.

10. Will spring ever come? Will the grass ever turn green? Will the sky ever be blue. Will I ever be able to feel the sun shine on my skin?

HAPPY FRIDAY

HAPPY FRIDAY

This little dude totally made my day when he (and his mom) came to visit me at work.

Although I'm pretty sure that he was happier to see the treats I have been saving for him than he was to see me.

Sure do love this little guy!

Have a great weekend.

LOVES

VALENTINES DAY WEEK

There are people out there who rebel against el dia de Love by refusing to celebrate its glory and goodness by saying, "Every day should be Valentines Day.  I don't need one day to remind me to show someone that I love them."  Please note: I am NOT one of these people.  Do I believe that everyday should be like Valentines Day?  Yes.  Do I think that there is a single person on this planet who could remember to do it 356 days a year?  No.  Do I think that most people are lazy in showing their love on a daily basis?  Yes.

So Yes I LOVE this day of flowers, heart shaped candies, chocolate, more chocolate, balloons, pointless stuffed animals, kisses, hugs, sugar cookies, sweet notes, surprises, etc.  To me Valentines Day comes during a point of the year when we need something to celebrate...at least here in Utah where the inversion lies low blocking the Vitamin D the sun offers and the cold temps chill deep down to the bone.  It doesn't have to cost a fortune.  It doesn't have to cost anything.  This is also the only time of the year that I like the color pink or red.  The  only time.

Since one day is too short I followed my friend, Jenn's example in making the season last just a little bit longer.  Starting February 1st she would drop a note, sweet treat, act of service, etc. into each of her girls Valentine boxes.  I thought that this would be a great tradition for Clayton and I to start.  I found Clayton a nice little Scooby-Doo mailbox and started dropping notes, treats and cheap little gifts into his mailbox every day for one week up until Valentines Day.

This was my favorite find...Giant Reese's Peanut Butter Heart.  So big.  So good.  Sooooo good.
Both Clayton and I refuse to go out to dinner on the actual day.  Too crowded.  Instead we decided to celebrate the entire weekend.

{Friday}
We went to the Beehive Grill.  Notice how we are the only people in the restaurant?  That is because we eat like 80 year-olds and dine early.
After dinner we made the trek over to Tremonton to visit Harry and Shira and to try out the ionic foot bath.  Supposedly it detoxes your body pulling out all the "bad" stuff which causes the water to turn different colors.  Both mine and Clayton's were a orange brown color which means joint pain.    Not sure if I believe in this or not.  Jury is still out.  Honestly I don't feel like I have joint pain and I didn't feel any different after the foot bath or the next day.  However, I wouldn't mind trying it after a long run when my muscles are all tight and sore.

{Saturday}
What better way to celebrate your love than by doing sealings at the Temple.  As always it was a special experience.  We took our time getting there which was nice because we arrived stress free and not trying to make a timeline (unlike the other 99% of the time we go to the Temple).  The first 30 minutes was extra special because we were the only couple in there doing the sealings.  Then two other couples came in and ruined our party.  Kidding.

After the Temple we made rice bowels, Clayton took me out for my special Valentines treat (Ice Cream!), and we rented RED.  Not your typical Valentines chick-flick.  Doesn't matter though because neither of us could stay awake to watch the whole thing.

{Sunday}
Dinner at the 'rents occurred this day.  Complete with pink heart shaped biscuits made by yours truly.  Decorating sugar cookies for Valentines Day is like carving pumpkins for Halloween.  It has to be done.  So I baked and frosted and decorated.

Brandon requested a 24 cookie.  He is in love with Jack Bauer.  He also request that I not post this picture.  But it is my blog and I can do what I want.
Cort (who tells us that he is growing out his hair) got a special cookie that reminded me of him.  He got the "Poop" cookie.  Complete with red poop droplets.  Something you might see from someone who ate too many beets.

Here are the cookies I decorated for our nieces and nephews (with exception of Chase...he got a small heart shaped cake to share with Tracee).
{Monday}
Ahhh...the real day.  When the alarm went off at 5am I treated myself to a extra 45 minutes of snooze time.  Later Clayton called me all apologetic because he hadn't sent me flowers or anything...but to be honest I didn't care at all.  I told him that all I wanted was to spend a little extra time with him today.  So we both got off of work a few minutes early.  When I got home I had the best gift ever waiting for me...Clayton had cleaned and straightened up the whole house (this also includes laundry)!  Best. Gift. Ever.  We then headed to Tremonton and delivered our sugar cookies.

Kace and Tydon
Chloe and Hadlee
We then hurried home and ate dinner and finished RED which ended up being the most expensive redbox movie ever.

Great Day.  Great Week.

ps. did anyone notice the 6 inches missing from my hair?  That's a half of foot people!

GAUCHO GRILL

Saturday night we went with the Holmgrens to Gaucho Grill.  We have been wanting to try this place since it opened up so when they asked us if we wanted to go we jumped at the chance.

Gaucho Grill is a Brazilian restaurant similar to Rodizio Grill.  Basically they keep bringing all sorts of different Brazilian type meats 'n things out to you until you tell them to stop.  Let's see we had Brazilian Lasagna (aka American lasagna with peas and corn), parmesan french fries, different bacon wrapped meats (can't go wrong with bacon wrapped anything) top sirloin, chicken wings, grilled pineapple, parmesan steak, a bunch of other things I can't remember and...
CHICKEN HEART!

WARNING: Do Not Eat!

It. was. awful.
Seriously trust me on this one.
If liver and crap had a love child it would be chicken heart
Gaucho Grill is good for Logan because it offers us something new.
That being said it is not as good as Rodizio Grill.  I thought that some of their meats were over cooked and it was a little pricey for the quality of food ($20/plate).  For the most part the buffet food was pretty good.  Spencer gave it a 5/10 and Clayton was generous and gave it a 6/10.  Maybe Gaucho Grill will get better with time...

Thanks Holmgrens!
We will see you at the next Feast before the Fast!

WEE MORNING HOURS

Awake at 2am

No your eyes do not deceive you
No the title is not a typo
I did mean to put "am" instead of "pm"
YES for the first time in our marriage Clayton saw me stay awake into the early morning hours

I should have taken a picture because no one will believe me now
However, I have witnesses
At least 10 of them
1 being my former Bishop and he would not lie...
well...on second thought I have played games with him and know that he does, in fact lie.
But Sister Wilcock...You can trust her

As further proof here is a picture of me and cute little Benjamin.  My face/hair reek of 4 hours of sleep.  Thank goodness Benjamin's cuteness is the central focus of this picture.

More proof...look at those tired eyes!  Was the matchy-matchy planned?  Not really...
The whole reason for staying up until 2 am was hard core partying "Mormon style" at our former Bishop's cabin at Bear Lake.  Good food.  Good friends.  Good times.  While I worked on a puzzle with lil' Benjamin.  Clayton learned to play his new favorite game Monopoly Deal card game.  He could not get enough.  I think he even won once (out of 68 games).
When I woke up in the morning I was in total awe with the view from the cabin.  Believe it or not Bear Lake is still gorgeous even in the frigid temps of the winter.

After breakfast we took to the hills for some sledding action
I did not appreciate the white washing Clayton gave me.
Clayton sledding in between Mike's legs

Thanks Bishop and Sister Wilcock!
I'm thinking we need to make this a Friday night tradition.
What do you say?

REGRETS

"I don't really believe in regrets."

- the great Wayne Newton

Well Mr. Newton I take it you have never seen Dinner for Schmucks...because if you had you would be a true believer in regrets.

Let it be known that I, Heidi McMurdie REGRET ever watching this horrible, awful, painful movie.  I would rather watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy, ahem... the extended versions than this movie.  If you know me at all you know that saying this is H-U-G-E.  Shame on you Steve Carell.  I have love many of your previous works, but this...this was beyond words bad!  I expected so much more from you!  I want those 2 hours of my life back.

You might be thinking..."Heidi, you don't get slapstick humor."  Oh contrar my good friends.  I do get it and LIKE it.  This movie was beyond slapstick.  Not only was it a little crude for my taste, but it was so awkward and frustrating that it was literally painful.  Not even a bag of popcorn with M&M's mixed in (best.movie.treat.ever!) could take the edge off of the pain.  The ONLY bright spot was Stephanie Szostak's (Julie in the movie) hair.  Love it!  Want it!
I can not put enough exclamation points to show how much I hated this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday we tried to wash away the pains of the previous day's movie with a new one.  Would it be possible to see TWO horrible movies TWO days in a row?  The odds were in our favor right?

WRONG!

This time it was Eat, Pray, Love.  I had heard many good things about it and had high hopes.  Although it was not as awful as the aforementioned movie, it was still bad nonetheless.  This movie was A) too long, B) too boring, and C) too self absorbed and selfish.

However, I now want to eat pizza and/or spaghetti in Italy, ride an elephant in India, play in the water in Bali.  So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I enjoyed seeing the different places this movie had to offer, but that was about it.

Watching movies/tv wasn't the only thing we did this weekend.  We also attended the much hyped about (see "over hyped") Winterfest in ghettosville Ogden.  We knew it was going to be a good day when we parked and a lady in a Batman shirt gave us a ONE MILLION DOLLAR BILL and talked to us about the need to repent.
Sadly our joy in Winterfest ended with the one million dollar bill and repentance lecture from the Batgirl.  Upon walking the frozen grounds of 25th street we soon realized that we didn't belong.  Yes we were out of our element.  You see we didn't have the following...

A) Rockstar energy drink
B) gauged ears
C) FOX brand clothing

After scoring free samples of Village Inn pie, paying an arm and a leg for fried potato rings, and watching 3 snowmobile races we got bored and left.

Please not that I am not sticking my tongue out oat the potato rings I am trying to demonstrate their heavenly goodness by licking them up.

WINTERFEST OBSERVATION: I'm starting to realize that the louder and more obnoxious your "sled" (slang for snowmobile) is the cooler you think you are.

Was our weekend filled with "regrets"?  On the contrary.  There were many good times to be had.  For example, Clayton's enchilada's, FROZEN YOGURT, Sunday Sacrament back scratch, clean towels in the bathroom, sleeping in until 7am (note: that IS sleeping in for us), visiting our old ward to see our old Bishop get released, seeing blue sky amongst all this inversion crap in Mantua, attending the Temple, leaving work early to attend said Temple, back massager every night, NOT folding laundry (ok so maybe I do regret that one), getting to church on time (translation: I was so awesome that I got ready with enough time to spare to eat breakfast before church), visiting with Mr. Moates, hanging out with Clayton, etc.

NEXT WEEKEND: 3 days and counting...
