REGRETS

"I don't really believe in regrets."

- the great Wayne Newton

Well Mr. Newton I take it you have never seen Dinner for Schmucks...because if you had you would be a true believer in regrets.

Let it be known that I, Heidi McMurdie REGRET ever watching this horrible, awful, painful movie.  I would rather watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy, ahem... the extended versions than this movie.  If you know me at all you know that saying this is H-U-G-E.  Shame on you Steve Carell.  I have love many of your previous works, but this...this was beyond words bad!  I expected so much more from you!  I want those 2 hours of my life back.

You might be thinking..."Heidi, you don't get slapstick humor."  Oh contrar my good friends.  I do get it and LIKE it.  This movie was beyond slapstick.  Not only was it a little crude for my taste, but it was so awkward and frustrating that it was literally painful.  Not even a bag of popcorn with M&M's mixed in (best.movie.treat.ever!) could take the edge off of the pain.  The ONLY bright spot was Stephanie Szostak's (Julie in the movie) hair.  Love it!  Want it!
I can not put enough exclamation points to show how much I hated this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday we tried to wash away the pains of the previous day's movie with a new one.  Would it be possible to see TWO horrible movies TWO days in a row?  The odds were in our favor right?

WRONG!

This time it was Eat, Pray, Love.  I had heard many good things about it and had high hopes.  Although it was not as awful as the aforementioned movie, it was still bad nonetheless.  This movie was A) too long, B) too boring, and C) too self absorbed and selfish.

However, I now want to eat pizza and/or spaghetti in Italy, ride an elephant in India, play in the water in Bali.  So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I enjoyed seeing the different places this movie had to offer, but that was about it.

Watching movies/tv wasn't the only thing we did this weekend.  We also attended the much hyped about (see "over hyped") Winterfest in ghettosville Ogden.  We knew it was going to be a good day when we parked and a lady in a Batman shirt gave us a ONE MILLION DOLLAR BILL and talked to us about the need to repent.
Sadly our joy in Winterfest ended with the one million dollar bill and repentance lecture from the Batgirl.  Upon walking the frozen grounds of 25th street we soon realized that we didn't belong.  Yes we were out of our element.  You see we didn't have the following...

A) Rockstar energy drink
B) gauged ears
C) FOX brand clothing

After scoring free samples of Village Inn pie, paying an arm and a leg for fried potato rings, and watching 3 snowmobile races we got bored and left.

Please not that I am not sticking my tongue out oat the potato rings I am trying to demonstrate their heavenly goodness by licking them up.

WINTERFEST OBSERVATION: I'm starting to realize that the louder and more obnoxious your "sled" (slang for snowmobile) is the cooler you think you are.

Was our weekend filled with "regrets"?  On the contrary.  There were many good times to be had.  For example, Clayton's enchilada's, FROZEN YOGURT, Sunday Sacrament back scratch, clean towels in the bathroom, sleeping in until 7am (note: that IS sleeping in for us), visiting our old ward to see our old Bishop get released, seeing blue sky amongst all this inversion crap in Mantua, attending the Temple, leaving work early to attend said Temple, back massager every night, NOT folding laundry (ok so maybe I do regret that one), getting to church on time (translation: I was so awesome that I got ready with enough time to spare to eat breakfast before church), visiting with Mr. Moates, hanging out with Clayton, etc.

NEXT WEEKEND: 3 days and counting...

hahahahaha you're hilarious Heidi! Don't have to worry about me seeing those movies because...A)never heard of them...and B)you said they were terrible! We did watch the movie you guys gave us for Christmas though on Sunday and thought it was very good! Hope this weekend is better, but it does need to warm up again for that to happen. Love you

That's so funny! We rented Dinner for Schmucks to watch on the plane ride to Hawaii. We didn't end up watching it and tried to watch it last week. I agree. Painful. I turned it off after 30 minutes (which is saying a lot because I'm a fan of Jersey Shore). I guess I should have warned you. Sorry you had to live through that. :)

HAHAHA! I actually was a little bit entertained by Dinner for Schmucks... but Eat, Pray, Love just bugged me - it was WAAAAAYYY too long! But I agree, it really did make me want to go to Italy and eat a whole lot of carbs :).

I started reading "Eat Pray Love" and promptly closed the cover and vowed not to watch the movie. I'm glad you verified my dislike!

I echo the ECHO sentiment. I'm sorry I didn't take the time to warn about Eat Pray Love. I do want Italian pizza. I hear it's so good, you'll cry. One day...

Oh and Ogden. Yikes. You may leave with funny stories but I can't say it's ever worth it. Well, maybe.
