HAWAII (MAY 2012) WRAP UP

Hawaii Wrap Up

It only took me 9 months and 20 days, but our May 2012 Family Hawaii trip is finally posted.  Done. Done. Done!  Now I can take another 9 month blogging break.  Kidding.

Here is the wrap up (click on the links to bring you to the post)

Obviously these posts don't include everything from the trip.  Such as...
1. My pregnant hormones getting the best of me and causing me to attempt to throw myself out of a moving car.  Not my best moment
2. Clayton telling Cortney and I over and over again that we sing "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry wrong.  FYI Clayton is also an expert on Taylor Swift songs.
3. Mom and Pops "accidentally" missing their flight home causing them to stay an extra day.
4. Teaching Tydon how to sing "We are Young" by Fun.  And listening to him belt it out each time it came on the radio (which was at least 28 times a day)
5.  Cort (he is/was 27) pestering Ty (he is/was 5) over and over and over again about girls
6. Ty giving Cort the silent treatment
7. Mango's behind Matsumoto's.  Oh the mango's.

If it hadn't have happened over 9 months ago I'm sure I would remember more of the little random happenings...

I guess I better start working on events from the last 9 months.
Oh...that makes my head hurt.

HAWAII DAY #9

Hawaii Day 9

This day everyone in the family kinda did their own thing.  Not being one to pay to go to a waterfall, Clayton and I finally bit the bullet and headed to Waimea Valley to check out the waterfall.

HAWAII DAY #8

Hawaii Day 8

Shark Cages
Once when I went to visit Clayton while he was living Hawaii we took a boat out in the ocean and did a shark cage excursion.  We both thought that my family would really enjoy this...especially the shark lover, Kace.  Not everyone (as in no one but Clayton, Kace and I) was excited to get up at 5am so we could drive to Haleiwa to do the shark cages.  I realize that getting up at 5am when you are on vacation is not a lot of fun.  So my apologies dear family, but I think that you enjoyed it, right?

This is an "after" picture.  See don't they all look happy now?!  It is amazing how a bunch of sharks and one pregnant lady puking can change your day.
One excited boy

SHARKS!
We saw probably over 20 sharks
 SHARKS
 AND MORE SHARKS
 EVEN MORE SHARKS
This is a bad picture but they get pretty close to the cage
 SO MANY SHARKS

Unfortunately I get sea sick.  I didn't take anything in advance because I was paranoid taking any sort of medication while I was pregnant...even if everyone says that it is safe and ok.  And I'm going to be honest...most of the time those meds don't keep me from getting sick anyway.  I didn't last very long before I got queasy in the head.  Clayton and I have this thing about puking...if one of us pukes then the other has to take pictures.  This is only ok to do on vacation, not at home.  Strange?  Yes, but I never said we were normal.  WARNING: puking picture below.

Ted's Bakery
After the shark cages some of the family ate breakfast in Haleiwa while the rest of us went to Ted's Bakery.  Love Ted's bakery for their crab sandwiches and Haupia pie...neither of which sounded good for breakfast.

Waimea take 2
Back to Waimea we went so all of the early birds could rest their heads...except for Kace and Ty who were ready for more wave action.

HAWAII DAY #7 (part 2)

Hawaii Day 7 - part 2

from Shark's Cove we went to ...

TURTLE BEACH (aka Laniakea Beach)
The turtles are protected and when they are out on the beach you are supposed to stay behind the red rope.  As you can see from the picture below Ty was not very happy about that rule and figured a way around it.  If you more the rope forward and still stay behind it you are not breaking the rules...right?
Kace's foot met a sharp rock at Shark's Cove.  Poor kid was not feeling the best.

Waimea

Down the road we went to Waimea where we hung out the rest of the day.

Clayton doing a backflip off of the Waimea Rock

Cort likes to "Tim Tebow" his jumps

Erik demonstrating the "care free" jump

Doesn't Kami look like she is doing some sort of ballet move?

3 - 2 - 1 - JUMP
Clayton, Cort and Erik tried to synchronize their jump.  Obviously they need to communicate if you jump on "3" or "JUMP".

Kace and Ty loved playing in the waves here.

Matsumoto's
As we got ready to head back into town we finished up our North Shore beach drive at Matsumoto's.

We picked a good day because Mr. Matsumoto himself was there.

HAWAII DAY #7 (part 1)

Hawaii Day 7

Wanna know what is not fun?  Posting about warm sunny Hawaii pictures when the current weather conditions in my state include cold, snow and inversion.

Anyway back to Hawaii

Day 7 was our North Shore beach day.  We started out at Pounders where

CLAYTON ate jellyfish

KACE dug for crabs

BRANDON frolicked in the waves (he also "manscaped" on the beach, but I got in trouble for posting that picture last time)

TY played with those blasted waterguns again

and MOM & POPS enjoyed watching the waves and soaking up the sun
(Mom don't get mad at me for posting this picture...I think it is cute!)

As we continued our drive down the North Shore we stopped at Giovanni's for some shrimp

Always one to make friends with disease ridden animals, Ty became fast friends with a stray cat and chased him everywhere...even under the Giovanni truck.

Lucky for me there was a truck/van that sold frozen yogurt too.

To even out the butter to healthy food ratio we stopped at one of the fruit stands.

Next stop... Sharks Cove

Ty wowed us all with his pushup abilities.  I have video of it that I hope will stop hating me and upload at some point

Before we left we attempted some "Action" photos per my request

As you can see my family struggles.  Take Brandon for example...he looks like he is about to poop his pants
TAKE 2
TAKE 3 (at this point I gave up)

Next up: Turtle Beach, Waimea and Matsumoto's
