HAWAII DAY #6

Hawaii Day 6

Any guesses what we did this day?

Laie LDS Temple
We kinda like each other
The boys think they are ninja's (except for Nate...)
 Prego...
and more pregos

The girls

After the Temple everyone went to the PCC except Clayton and I.  Clayton has been there more times that he can count so we thought we would save some money and just meet up with the family for the luau and night show.  Off to the beach we went.  Clayton scared me to death when he snorkeled by himself for over an hour and I lost sight of him.  Did he ever get in trouble when he got back!  Always use the buddy system when snorkeling people!  As we were leaving the beach we ran across an old man sporting and itsy-bitsy G-string (as if G-strings come any other way than itsy-bitsy)...not a speedo or a thong, but a real deal floss like G-string.  I could get more graphic about this sight, but I going to keep this a PG rated post...

Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau
After the beach and before we met up with the family we ran up to this Heiau that overlooks Waimea.

Polynesian Cultural Center

Meanwhile everyone else was having fun hanging out with the Chief of Samoa and...

 ...banging on drums

At the luau they asked for all the little kids who wanted to learn the hula to come up on stage.  Kace got right up and headed down and Ty was close behind.  No coaxing needed both boys went down all on their own.  There were only a few kids down there besides them.

Ty was a little clueless on what he was supposed to do, but Kace got right into it.

Killing time before the night show started

HAWAII DAY #5

HAWAII DAY 5

A couple of years ago Clayton and I kayaked to the Mokulua Islands just off of Lanikai.  We thought that it might be something the family would like to do...
... Kami and Erik LOVED it:)

Before we left to Hawaii all of us siblings gave dad a preloaded VISA giftcard for him to use in Hawaii.

Best way to use a VISA giftcard is to buy a water gun for your 5 year-old grandson...
...SAID NO ONE EVER!

Once we got to the island and confiscated the water guns from said 5 year-old we hiked around the island
Swimming hole deep enough to jump into

Cort
Kace

 Brandon and Mom
I think it is very sweet for my 26 year-old brother to sit in the back and relax while his mother does all the work (notice how I didn't mention your age mom?  You're welcome).  One day he will learn to make his own lunch and help paddle a kayak...we hope
 Kayak bumper cars

Maunawili Falls Hike

Two brothers.  This was one of my favorite pictures.  So precious

The ones who started it all...
Clayton doing a backflip (top of picture)
 Kace
The three daredevils (once again I was forbidden to jump and forced to play photographer instead)
Ty watching the show and feeling a little sad that it was too deep for him to play and jump in.
After about 20 minutes of coaxing, Cort finally convinced Ty to jump in with him (sans lifejacket).  Still gets my heart going a bit just thinking about it.  Once they swam over to the rocks it took another 20 minutes to convince Ty to trust Cort.  Finally they jumped...
It seemed like they were under water forever before they came up.  I'm sure that to Rachel and Nate it felt even longer.  There were a few locals and tourists watching the whole show between Cort and Ty and when they finally surfaced everyone cheered and clapped.

Not sure why Kace is doing this "horn" thing.  As I was going through my pictures I noticed that he did it in quite a few pictures...

HAWAII DAY #4

HAWAII DAY 4

Hanauma Bay

Meet mi familia...again

It is never to early to start practicing life saving technique

 Another classic Nimrod moment
Look closely - As you can see he was very excited to see how these Middle Eastern gentlemen would snorkel in their turbans (not sure if that is the politically correct name for their head wear)
 Macho Man
This also might have been the last time we saw Ty's snorkel.  But, I'm pretty sure this is a borrowed one from his brother and that he really did lose it at Lanikai the day they arrived.
 I love this picture!
A Mom and her sons (and LOOK neither boy is pulling a face, puffing out their chest in their best "uncle Mac" impression or giving bunny ears.  Cherish it...it is a rarity)
 Snow angels are for sissies
Sand angels is where it is at.  Pretty sure sand is still coming out of "cracks" and crevices (emphasis on cracks).  The poor kid probably felt like he was wiping with sandpaper in the bathroom for the next 2 weeks.

 Behold!  A fish
Pretty sure this is the day that many started on their sunburns

 Waiola Shave Ice

Look who finally joined the party!
I'm on a quest to find out if Matsumoto's is really the best shave ice on Oahu or if it is really just a tourist trap.  So far I have to say it still stands as my favorite.  Wailoa and Shimazu are both good, but Matsumoto's is still numero uno in my opinion.  Any other shave ice suggestions???

Pali Lookout

Pretty sure the highlight of the trip for Kace was...
1. chasing yard birds
2. shark cages (coming up...)
3. chasing more yard birds
4. snorkeling
5. yard birds, yard birds, yard birds, yard birds

 The girls...and Ty
Ty wanted to look "nice" this day so he chose to wear his best outfit.  Pretty sure he gets his matching skills from his dad.  His smile and happy demeanor he definitely gets from his Aunt Heidi

Yogur Story
And because I like to post about the food we eat...
Red Velvet Waffles = AWESOMNESS

Day 5 coming up
Someone is reading this besides my mom...right???
