LOVES

VALENTINES DAY WEEK

There are people out there who rebel against el dia de Love by refusing to celebrate its glory and goodness by saying, "Every day should be Valentines Day.  I don't need one day to remind me to show someone that I love them."  Please note: I am NOT one of these people.  Do I believe that everyday should be like Valentines Day?  Yes.  Do I think that there is a single person on this planet who could remember to do it 356 days a year?  No.  Do I think that most people are lazy in showing their love on a daily basis?  Yes.

So Yes I LOVE this day of flowers, heart shaped candies, chocolate, more chocolate, balloons, pointless stuffed animals, kisses, hugs, sugar cookies, sweet notes, surprises, etc.  To me Valentines Day comes during a point of the year when we need something to celebrate...at least here in Utah where the inversion lies low blocking the Vitamin D the sun offers and the cold temps chill deep down to the bone.  It doesn't have to cost a fortune.  It doesn't have to cost anything.  This is also the only time of the year that I like the color pink or red.  The  only time.

Since one day is too short I followed my friend, Jenn's example in making the season last just a little bit longer.  Starting February 1st she would drop a note, sweet treat, act of service, etc. into each of her girls Valentine boxes.  I thought that this would be a great tradition for Clayton and I to start.  I found Clayton a nice little Scooby-Doo mailbox and started dropping notes, treats and cheap little gifts into his mailbox every day for one week up until Valentines Day.

This was my favorite find...Giant Reese's Peanut Butter Heart.  So big.  So good.  Sooooo good.
Both Clayton and I refuse to go out to dinner on the actual day.  Too crowded.  Instead we decided to celebrate the entire weekend.

{Friday}
We went to the Beehive Grill.  Notice how we are the only people in the restaurant?  That is because we eat like 80 year-olds and dine early.
After dinner we made the trek over to Tremonton to visit Harry and Shira and to try out the ionic foot bath.  Supposedly it detoxes your body pulling out all the "bad" stuff which causes the water to turn different colors.  Both mine and Clayton's were a orange brown color which means joint pain.    Not sure if I believe in this or not.  Jury is still out.  Honestly I don't feel like I have joint pain and I didn't feel any different after the foot bath or the next day.  However, I wouldn't mind trying it after a long run when my muscles are all tight and sore.

{Saturday}
What better way to celebrate your love than by doing sealings at the Temple.  As always it was a special experience.  We took our time getting there which was nice because we arrived stress free and not trying to make a timeline (unlike the other 99% of the time we go to the Temple).  The first 30 minutes was extra special because we were the only couple in there doing the sealings.  Then two other couples came in and ruined our party.  Kidding.

After the Temple we made rice bowels, Clayton took me out for my special Valentines treat (Ice Cream!), and we rented RED.  Not your typical Valentines chick-flick.  Doesn't matter though because neither of us could stay awake to watch the whole thing.

{Sunday}
Dinner at the 'rents occurred this day.  Complete with pink heart shaped biscuits made by yours truly.  Decorating sugar cookies for Valentines Day is like carving pumpkins for Halloween.  It has to be done.  So I baked and frosted and decorated.

Brandon requested a 24 cookie.  He is in love with Jack Bauer.  He also request that I not post this picture.  But it is my blog and I can do what I want.
Cort (who tells us that he is growing out his hair) got a special cookie that reminded me of him.  He got the "Poop" cookie.  Complete with red poop droplets.  Something you might see from someone who ate too many beets.

Here are the cookies I decorated for our nieces and nephews (with exception of Chase...he got a small heart shaped cake to share with Tracee).
{Monday}
Ahhh...the real day.  When the alarm went off at 5am I treated myself to a extra 45 minutes of snooze time.  Later Clayton called me all apologetic because he hadn't sent me flowers or anything...but to be honest I didn't care at all.  I told him that all I wanted was to spend a little extra time with him today.  So we both got off of work a few minutes early.  When I got home I had the best gift ever waiting for me...Clayton had cleaned and straightened up the whole house (this also includes laundry)!  Best. Gift. Ever.  We then headed to Tremonton and delivered our sugar cookies.

Kace and Tydon
Chloe and Hadlee
We then hurried home and ate dinner and finished RED which ended up being the most expensive redbox movie ever.

Great Day.  Great Week.

ps. did anyone notice the 6 inches missing from my hair?  That's a half of foot people!

That foot bath looks nasty! You guys are pretty cute, but not as cute as Mike and I :-) When are you going to have some cute little kidlings, or just get a dog, that is what we did first.

I am highly skeptical of the people who say they hate Vday cuz you shouldn't have to have a day to show someone you care. 1. I feel like it's actually bitterness because their significant other doesn't do much for them on valentines, or they're not bitter but only because they're trying to convince themselves they're okay with it by saying stuff like that. 2. Sure you should do stuff everyday for the person you love, but if that's true, and you are, then we don't have a problem right? It will just be like every other day, but with a name... :)

I'm not big on the stuffed animals - but I like the playing or making a point to do something part. That's what we do.... and you're right about needing a holiday right about then!
