ANDREW FAMILY REUNION 2011 part 1

We were at the grocery store yesterday and Clayton saw a BOX of Malt 'o Meal cereal.

BOX

not a BAG

but a

BOX

He (Clayton) then said something to the effect that they (Malt 'O Meal) can't make BOXED cereal, because how would the penny pinching families afford it?
So...

Is buying BOXED cereal a status thing???

Growing up we always had the bagged cereal.
The imitation stuff.
The kind where they tweaked the names a bit so they didn't get caught in a lawsuit over patent issues.
You know the kinds

TOOTI FRUITIES
MARSHMALLOW MATEY'S
CRISPY RICE
TOASTY O'S
COCO ROOS
MINI SPOONERS

They were once in my home and yours

Only on special occasions did we have the hallowed BOXED cereal

Birthday's

and

Sleepovers at Gram's

She always had my favorites (back in the day...this is an ever changing list)

HONEY-COMBS
APPLE JACKS
LIFE

Oh how we always fought for the prize at the bottom of the box
this was before the "send in your UPC and $10 to clame your prize" days

Pretty sure I never got the prized.
Pretty sure I was picked on by the others.
kidding...

Sleepovers at Gram Andrew's were the best.
On Sunday nights we always begged and pleaded with the 'rents to let us stay over
Grandma had fun games, big beds, movies, treats, and boxed cereal
Who wouldn't want to sleepover with all that???

Well a few weeks ago we celebrated this
Boxed Cereal Grandma's
85th Birthday

I love this picture of her and Clayton

A surprise party was planned in her honor
It felt more like a reception for the Royals
So many people
Grandma ate it up

I ate a lot of cookies and listened to Clayton tease Brandon
occasionally I would move to a different seat just so I could walk by the cookie table and nab me another one.

At times I would be approached by an someone who would talk to me like they had known me for years.

I was confused...
until they called me Kayleen

That was when I knew that they thought I was MY MOM
(mistaking me for my mom happened quite a few times)

This would offend me if my mom weren't so good looking.
Truly a compliment in its highest form

Here's to Grandmas and her 85 years

THANKS FOR...

Happy birthday to Gram! I think when I make a blog book I will steal this post, because it pretty much sums it up for me too!

Bah! Happy Birthday Gramma Andrew!!!! Can't believe I missed it! :) NO seriously though, this post only underscores how much time your family put up with me. Sleepovers at Gramma Andrew's were the bomb.com. The countless hours of Nintendo. OH the Nintendo. AND, one more * for the list:
*Pepperidge Farm seconds...bless you G-ma A. Bless you for putting up with me too.
