THE GIFT OF BARK
Day #4
One Christmas morning my parents told me to look outside for my gift. I opened up the front door and saw a little blue dog house. The 'rents then told me that I was going to get a Cocker Spaniel from my Aunt Jill and Uncle Victor's house. I was soo excited and waiting for the day when I could finally pick my dog up was pure torture.
What made this gift even more special was the fact that my dad built that little blue dog house.
I named her Minnie...after some sort of fascination with Minnie Mouse. I loved her so much. We had a great time for the first 2-4 weeks or so. And then I probably started neglecting her like most kids so with the pets they want "sooooo" bad (did I neglect her mom?).
Minnie had a good life. As far as I remember she had one batch of puppies...maybe more, but it was so long ago that I only remember this one. The reason I remember this one is because right after she gave birth I took Casey Egan to see the puppies and Minnie got protective (like new parents do) and bit him.
Later Minnie died.
I don't even remember how long I had her. I remember coming home from dance and my mom told me that she had something to tell me (I even remember that we were in the backroom). She told me that Minnie had been hit by a car and that my Uncle Stan had found her on the road.
Sad.
I told her (crying) that no dog would ever replace Minnie.
Hmmm...this was supposed to be a happy memory not a sad one. Just remember that I was soooo excited that Christmas morning to find out that I was getting a dog of my very own.

..........you had a dog??? Where the heck was I? I don't remember dogs at your house at all...
Good thing you wrote that last paragraph or we would all be crying.
I also liked minnie (and cosmo and blue or green) for a little bit, it usually doesn't last that long.
Glad we could give you some happiness with a dog!! :) We have more...if you would like to try again!! :)
Oh my! Minnie is such a cute puppy! Cocker Spaniels are just adorable! I bet that was such a good Christmas!
Sad that she got hit by a car though... I don't know what I'm going to do when Lucy, my parent's dog dies, I'm sure it will be devestating!
Oh yes! Lovable Minnie! We all loved her and was very sad when she died. As far as I can remember, you didn't neglect her.
Cosmo, we didn't have very long at all, and blue and green were goats! I'm glad you remember getting Minnie. We were so excited to give her to you, and dad spent a long time perfecting that dog house! Fun memories!
