FOOD - DAY #11

TRADITIONS = FOOD
Day #11

So many of my Christmas memories revolve around food.  Treats for neighbors and treats from neighbors, Christmas cakes from Grandma Spencer, Cheese box from Gossners, M&M filled candy canes from friends, bag of peanuts from the Jolly Man himself at the ward Christmas party, orange in the toe of my stocking, etc.

Here are two other ANDREW and MCMURDIE food traditions/memories from Clayton and I.

ANDREW
#1 Christmas Eve we have our big turkey dinner.  It is like Thanksgiving all over again.  We have turkey (duh), stuffing, cranberries, veggies, mashed potatoes, yams, rolls and dessert.  You think with all the tryptophan in me I would be able to sleep on Christmas eve.

#2 One of my other favorite food memories growing up was our Christmas morning breakfast.  Mom would fix waffles and we would top them with ... ICE CREAM.  It was glorious.  And sometimes Dad would fix omelets and nobody can fix omlets like pops.  Sadly last year (after years and years of doing this) Cort, Brandon and Dad told mom that they didn't really like the ice cream on waffle thing.  Personally I think they are crazy...

MCMURDIE
#1 On Christmas Eve all the McMurdie's would get together in the afternoon and have a late lunch.  It was mostly sandwiches, salads, desserts and other fingerfoods.  Some of my favorite stuff.  Last year Clayton made some pies that were a huge hit.  This year they decided to not have their Christmas party on Christmas Eve.  It is going to be on the Friday between Christmas and New Year's.  Although it is sad that the tradition has come to a close, it might be kinda nice because Clayton and I could only stay for a few hours before we had to head out to my parents.  With it being on a day other than Christmas Eve we can actually stay and hang out longer.  Plus now we can head out to Tremonton to spend time with our immediate family earlier on Christmas Eve and maybe start our own Christmas Eve brunch traditions with them...

#2 Clayton's family always has a Christmas lunch of ham, baked beans, little smokies, shrimp or potato salad and other delicious foods.  Another meal that I love.

So as you can see I get fat over the holidays
Tis the season I guess

That brings me to another past Christmas photo...

Where's Heidi???

and you are even wearing your red "christmas dress!"

I personally love ice cream on waffles. I made it for the YW last year and they also loved it. The boys are weird.

Seriously, I know! The boys and dad are crazy! So sadly, that's not a tradition at my house anymore. I guess dad can just make us his famous omelets! Love all the food around Christmas and Thanksgiving...my favorite meals of all! And...don't you look adorable in your Christmas dress and red nose?
