OAHU HIKES

So Clayton and I like to hike...Utah, Hawaii, anywhere. However, whenever we hike in Utah my broken record husband says (it never fails), "This is why I don't like to hike in Utah..." and names some reason like there never being a waterfall at the end of the hike or or the sky isn't blue enough, or there are not enough leaves on the trees or something. I love, LOVE to hike in HI because there are no snakes. That is my number one fear about hiking in Utah. Anyway here are some non-snake hiking pictures for your visual pleasure.
Laie Falls

So you might be wondering to yourself why I'm crawling up this steep surface. Well that is because there is a part where the trail splits and we didn't know which direction to take. Clayton said, "you keep going on this LOWER trail and I will take the HIGHER trail just to see where it goes." Translation: "You take the LOW road and then when I'm prove that I'm on the right trail you climb up this STEEP mountain side on your hands and knees, with loose dirt and risk your life to come up to me and the right trail. Meanwhile, while you are doing that I will laugh my head off at your struggles and pull out the camera to take a picture (still laughing) and then at the very last minute before you plunge to your death I offer to help." That was not a good moment. Many profanities (yes from my own semi-virgin mouth) were said. Did I learn a lesson from all of this? Yes! Lesson 1: Chaco's don't make good "kick your husband in the groin shoes." Lesson 2: Refer to lesson 1.

Manoa Falls

The day we hiked to Manoa Falls was amazing (besides the fact that we had to pay 5 BONES for parking). It was pouring rain, but the fall was really spectacular (sorry I gotta expand my vocabulary to include words other than "awesome" and "amazing"). Clayton "I've always wanted to get Leptosporidia" McMurdie found a water slide along the hike.
Maunawili Falls

Here we are at Maunawili Falls. Clayton is doing a backflip and in the other picture I had just jumped off of the rock. I don't do full body swimsuit shots so you won't get to see my graceful dive where I do triple somersault with a 1 1/2 twist (yea I watched the Olympics).

Heiau (ancient Hawaiian Temple in or by Waimea)

Ok so we didn't exactly hike to this temple (by "didn't exactly" I mean we drove right up to it), but since we walked around it I'm calling it a hike. It is my blog you know! I love seeing old ancient stuff like this. They have a reverent/sacred like feeling to them. However, our temples are way better!

So these are some of the hikes that we did on Oahu. As you can see we like to hike to waterfalls. I did notice something though, everytime we hiked to a waterfall Clayton had to "make" a waterfall of his own. Pictures available upon request.
