4TH OF JULY

What to know what we did for the 4th? Click here. Why click there you ask? Because we did the same thing we did LAST year. It wasn't supposed to be like that. We had been racking our brains for something fun to do, but all our plans fell through. At last minute we decided to go to Tony Grove and hike up to Mt. Naomi. If you are familiar with the Logan Canyon/Tony Grove area you will know that the trailheads for Mt. Naomi and White Pine Lake (what we hiked to last year on the 4th) start at the same place. In fact they follow the same trail for about 5 minutes until they branch off. So there we were me in my Chacos and Clayton in his trusty Nike's (after last year's stint he gave up on the Chacos). We followed the trail and came to the point where a sign points to Mt. Naomi to go right and White Pine Lake to go left. We go right and start getting into some sort of political "discussion" (I use the word "discussion" lightly).
Anyway the trail branches off again and there isn't any sign to tell us which way to go, right or left? We go right and 1 hour later we end up at White Pine Lake. You are probably asking yourselves right now "didn't the trail seem familiar?" Yes! Yes it did. Why didn't we turn around? Because we are idiots, that's why. Clayton kept mentioning that the trail seemed like the WPL trail but I told him he was being a pessimist. He called himself a realist. Man I hate it when he is right!
Despite the wrong trail it was still a great day to hike. June and early July are perfect times to hike in the Tony Grove area. This is when the wild flowers are out and there are quite a few and yes there is still snow in the mountains. The picture to the left shows how happy Clayton is to see this lake again (sarcasm implied). He had me flex my muscles at the lake to show my anger. However after the couch moving experience I don't think my muscles (or lack thereof) scared it in the least.

The weather was perfect hiking weather too. It was cloudy and cool. However, it was not perfect for working on my tan lines when we went to Bear Lake (once again same thing we did last year). Speaking of BL, does anyone else find it extremely cruel that Clayton doesn't let me get a shake when we go over there any more? So what that the last time I got one there I threw it up all (and I mean ALL) over him. He is the one that said, "you know it is true love when someone throws up on you and you still want to be with them." Forgive and forget Claydog, forgive and forget. Even though things didn't go exactly the way I wanted them too Clayton summed it up best when he said, "doesn't matter what I'm doing, as long as I'm with you I'm happy." Ditto Claytonious! Ditto!

That's way pretty, I guess something to put in the "pros" column when it comes to moving to Logan next year.
I can't believe Clayton won't let you get a shake, that's just blasmephy Clayton, you cannot go to BL and not get a shake!! It's like going to Haleiwa and not getting shave ice, you just don't do it.
