LAST OF THE HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Well with the exception of New Year's this should be the last of the Holiday posts. Which honestly makes me happy. I miss the holiday's and remembering them through pictures and blog posts makes me sad.

Here are a few more things we did over the holiday's...

1) Holidays = Football

We watched a lot of football. Almost some sort of bowl game every night. I found these gems (below) at a gas station. We BYU fans buy our game day snacks at gas stations. CLASSY!
P.S. BYU won UTEP in their bowl game 52-24

2) Christmas Cakes

Every December we race for the mailbox for the arrival of Grandma Spencer's Christmas Cakes. She has sent them to our family for as long as I can remember. Growing up we would get one box as a family and have to split them. As you can imagine many fights were born on the day the Christmas Cakes arrived. Now that I am married she sends me a box all for myself (and Clayton if he has been good). These Christmas Cakes are such a great Christmas Tradition and I can't thank Grams enough for them!!! Also growing up I would try to savor my portion of the cakes to last days. Now Clayton and I start the Christmas season eating them all at once with a glass of egg nog to wash them down. 3) Visiting Gramps

In December my Gramps had a stroke. He was in rehab over Christmas and should get out this week. I love him and Grams dearly and hope and pray that he can get better. Between Christmas and New Year's Clayton and I drove down to SLC to visit him. The drive down was extremely bright and Clayton forgot his glasses so he humbled himself and asked to borrow mine. PLEASE NOTE: He absolutely HATES these glasses because they have a heart on the side.

4) DIVA'S Cupcake's

It was with happy accident that we stumbled upon DIVA's Cupcakes. DIVA's has been on our Food Bucket List for some time now but we haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet. Very cute place...although I now know why it is called DIVA's. Many "frilly" men frequent the place. They have a greenroom and a library where you can sit and chill/chat while eating your food. I had the Turkey Sandwich (with cranberry relish) and Clayton had the Ham & Brie Panini. Both were about $7-8 and came with a salad. The salad left something to be desired. It was pretty bland with too much dressing. However, the sandwiches were awesome!

Of course the real reason to try DIVA's was for the cupcakes. We got Red Velvet (muy bueno) and Apple something or other (also bueno).

5) Sleepover with the nieces
Right before New Year's Aubri and Hadlee graced us with their presence for the evening. We went to Cafe Sabor (my favorite but for the record they chose it), played the wii (well Clayton and Aubri did while Hadlee and I texted each other), watched Twilight and Despicable Me. It was during Despicable me that I feel asleep followed by Clayton. This old "almost 30" body can't stay up like I used too...ok let's be honest...I have NEVER been much of a night owl. Anyway we feel pretty lame for inviting them over and then falling asleep. Thanks for coming and putting up with us guys. Next time we will try to be more exciting!
NEXT UP: New Year Eve and Day

I think maybe Clayton and I should open our own cupcake shop. Sounds like he (and you) have done the market research! :)
