COAST HIGHWAY DAY 1

OUR ADVENTURES ON THE COAST HIGHWAY
San Francisco, CA to Tillamook, OR
"No plans, No place to stay...just us and the open road"

DAY 1
- ran the Golden Gate Bridge---CHECK. Run the Golden Gate Bridge in the pouring rain---CHECK. We are hard core. Any sucker can do it in the sun, but the pouring, pounding rain? That takes strength. Having already been to San Francisco back in 2007 we didn't spend much time here to do anything but run the bridge.

South side/San Francisco side of bridge

North side of bridge
According to Wikipedia, the GGB is not only the most popular place in the U.S.A. to commit suicide, but it is also the most popular place in the world. That would explain all the crisis phone boxes.
- look out point heading north on coast highway.
- Beach. Definitely not swimsuit weather.
-Point Reyes lighthouse (windiest point on the Pacific Coast and second foggiest spot on the North American continent). Those steps were not so much fun to come back up.
- Hike in Russian Gulch State Park to a beautiful waterfall. Also had huge trees. Not sure what this shiny thing in the picture is...that with my red eyes makes it kinda spooky.

-eating banana bugs. Not sure what the correct name is. And...NO he did not eat it.
-Blow hole (not so active...at all) at Russian Gulch.

- Self proclaimed "best pizza" in Fort Bragg.
- It's It ice cream sandwiches. Best Ever. Only sell them west of the Rockies. Every time we go to CA we have to buy some.
- Rockin' out to Lady GaGa. Don't judge me. I have changed my ways. I still think she is crazy, but her songs are really catchy.
- Stopping for motion sickness pills. Lots of them. Oh and painkillers too. Clayton told me that if I was going to puke let him know a few minutes a head of time (like I can control that!). I asked him "why" and he said so he can get the camera. Nice!
- 22 miles of winding, foggy, dark roads. Almost hit 4 deer and a mountain cat (we weren't sure what it was...).
- Scoring a room at the beautiful Benbow Inn. Clerk felt bad for the poor, tired travelers and gave us a H-U-G-E discount.

Wow...I didn't hear about all the motion sickness pills you had to take. I can see why Clayton wanted the camera though. Loved all the lighthouses, and I know grandma did too. I'm glad you got to run the golden gate bridge, even if it was in the pouring rain. You guys looked kinda cold on this day. Glad you made it home safe and sound and that you had a great time. Love you

That's cool that you got to run on the golden gate bridge. The bridge just says FULL HOUSE to me.

I forgot to say in the last post that I really want to go to the redwoods. It looks beautiful!
