EDWARD JONES SUMMER REGIONAL 2011
Park City, Utah
I love that Clayton works for a company that provides such perks such as a free getaway to Park City for the weekend. I also love that he works for a company that sees the value of family and makes these regional meetings a family affair.
We arrived in at the Grand Summit Resort at The Canyons in Park City on Thursday. After checking in we had a meeting and then attended a fiesta dinner (notice that Clayton wore an appropriate shirt...not planned) which was muy bueno. They had this nacho cheese sauce that if it wouldn't have made me look like an gordo pigola I would have totally stole the bowl away to my table and downed it with a straw. Although the food was spectacular it was the destination of the eating establishment that stole the show.
We were able to take a gondola ride up the mountain to eat here at Red Pine Lodge. So much fun. The views going up, coming down and all around were incredible.
Not sure why I always have to get a feet picture...
This is a view from the gondola of the resort we stayed out. Not too shabby.
Naturally we went for frozen yogurt later that night. We have been to Yodipity before so it wasn't a new experience. Their negative points from our first experience still remained...they get your samples for you (what is up with that!!), they don't have a lot of flavors, and they close super early. But it still hit the spot.
The next morning Clayton had meetings from 7am-12:15pm. I had a spouse meeting at 845 for an hour and then had time to myself. What to do, what to do? Ummm I did what any other good wife would have done...hit the outlet mall! duh.
Since the Mr. was in meetings while I was having fun shopping, I stopped at Whole Foods and bought him some cupcakes. I heard that the Whole Foods cupcakes were really good and since Clayton is a cupcake lover I thought I would surprise him with some. They weren't as good as I hoped. They were a little on the dry side. But he was still happy and that is all that matters.
Nothing makes you want to "suit" up and go swimming like downing a bunch of cupcakes.
We took subie and the paddle boards to Jordanelle for some sun, fun and R&R
After Jordanelle we headed to PCMR for some thrills on the Alpine Slide, Alpine Coaster, and Zipline.
That night Edward Jones treated us to an amazing tropical themed dinner with a chocolate fountain. I was in heaven. I lost count how many times I went back to get more. Also lost/forgotten were the number of calories I consumed.
The next day Clayton again had meetings from 7-1pm. While he was in meetings I played The Nice Sister and drove Kami back to her house in Woods Cross (jk I owed her since they drove us to The-middle-of-nowhere-Woodruff the week before). After that I hit the gym and then did one of my favorite things...read a book by the pool. lovely.
When Clayton was done we once again headed to Jordanelle.
the best corn bread in the world (Whole Foods) + sun + raft + no obligations = THE PERFECT AFTERNOON
FYI - I can't tell you how much I love Whole Foods. I'm not a hippie or into all that organic garbage stuff, but they have a lot of different kinds/types of food that I have never seen nor heard before. This cornbread really is the best stuff ever.
Then we rushed back and got ready for the Edward Jones awards dinner.
I was so proud when they called Clayton up for THREE awards. I asked him if he knew that he was going to get three awards and he said, "no". He said that he knew that he would probably get one but the other two were complete surprises.
I can't tell exclaim enough how proud I am of him. He has been through so much and worked so very hard since La-Z-Boy closed its doors in Tremonton 3 years ago. It hasn't been easy, but it HAS been worth it. I would go through it all again if I had too (i know that he would echo my words as well).
Obviously he was so very excited to have his picture taken with his awards in the hotel room later. I was having a proud wife moment and couldn't resist.
FINALLY got him to smile
We had such a fabulous time in Park City. If I were to own a house in two other places in Utah I would choose Bear Lake and Park City.
Thanks to Edward Jones for the great time!
